# SimpleITK on Android

Hi All,

We are looking into building a small app that reads ultrasound cines (basically dicom files) and processes them on mobile devices. It looks like SimpleITK has Java support, but I was wondering if there are any other insights or things to take care of when using SimpleITK on Android? Any special hardware and/or software requirements?

Hello @hina-shah,

SimpleITK is indeed available in Java, but not sure how many have tried it on Android, if any. Most image analysis work, at least in the medical domain, is done on laptop/desktop devices.

If you get it working on your system, consider sharing relevant requirements/limitations/build instructions with the community. We’d be happy to add any insights to [the Java related documentation](https://simpleitk.readthedocs.io/en/master/setUp.html#setup-java).
