Hi! We’ve been trying to establish a standard file format for tractography/streamlines data ( [tee-ar-ex · GitHub](https://github.com/tee-ar-ex/) ) and as part of that I’ve been working on an ITK remote module that provides I/O and ITK-style interfaces. This seems like the best route to making the format easily usable in ITK and ITK-dependent tools. Here’s the repo: [GitHub - tee-ar-ex/ITKTractographyTRX: ITK remote module for working with the TRX format · GitHub](http://github.com/tee-ar-ex/ITKTractographyTRX).

I was wondering if an Insight Journal article is still required for new remote modules? We were thinking about doing a JOSS paper on it, but I wanted to check here before restructuring the manuscript.

@matt.mccormick and @phcerdan should know whether Insight Journal is open for submissions. But I think we no longer require it for adding new remote modules.

Hello @mattcieslak ,

It is exciting to see the tee-ar-ex developments! And the ITK Module! 🎇

Thank you for inquiring about the Insight Journal. We are still preparing for new submissions – I would recommend JOSS at this time.

Thanks for the update @matt.mccormick !

This proposed module is a sub-project of the larger tee-ar-ex effort. Would it be possible to submit the proposed ITK remote module independently of a journal publication? We need to coordinate publication with the rest of the tee-ar-ex development team, which may take some time.

Thanks @matt.mccormick! We are hoping to get the remote module added so we can start adding TRX support to downstream software packages. Ultimately we’d like to publish something _after_ adding TRX in lots of software, so this initial paper would have just been to meet the requirements to get the remote module added.

Also, in case anyone is interested in helping out with this project, we would definitely appreciate comments/suggestions on the ITK wrapper and would be happy to include you as coauthors!
