# Build my first ITK registration example

**Question** (via private message):

As I am new to ITK software, I want to know how image registration is done in ITK as I want to do overlapping of 2 images. So please kindly tell me the procedure or steps to do the respective whether it be in command prompt or by using CMake.

There are many examples of how to do registration using ITK. [Here](https://itk.org/Wiki/ITK/Examples/Included/Registration) is a list of built-in ones. [Here](https://itk.org/ITKExamples/src/Registration/Common/Perform2DTranslationRegistrationWithMeanSquares/Documentation.html) is a stand-alone example. [Here](https://itk.org/Wiki/ITK/Examples/Registration/ImageRegistrationMethod) is one from the wiki, which also includes CMakeLists.txt.
